Center for Change and Growth
Here at the Center for Change and Growth we believe in the power of play. We provide play therapy and play therapy training. The Center is committed to encouraging children and playfully resolving family problems with respect and a sense of humor.
Dr. Susan Carter founded Center for Change & Growth PLC in 1997, as a place where children and their families can find help with life’s challenges. C4CG is a play therapy center – that is, that we believe in the healing power of play, that play, in and of itself, creates a bridge between the concrete world of children and the abstract notions of the adults in their lives.
At C4CG, healing is a serious business that is dealt with in a calm, consistent, safe, and playful manner. We assist children of all ages to use play to express their joys, their fears, and their sorrows, and encourage their families to do the same.
C4CG is a training center for students of mental health treatment, for play therapists seeking to hone their skills and to become Registered Play Therapists, and for parents searching for answers to be better parents for their children. As such, we offer parenting groups, Filial [parent-child] Play Therapy, parent consultations, and family therapy. Play therapy-based internships are offered for Masters’ and doctoral level graduate students, and Dr. Carter is a frequent presenter of workshops in assessment and treatment in play therapy regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Finally, C4CG is an assessment and evaluation center, helping families to understand the cognitive, neurological, and learning disabilities of their children. In that regard, Dr. Carter and her staff provide psychological testing and evaluation for children and adolescents, in hopes of establishing a foundation for improving their academic and social successes.
